Star Wars

Well this Tuesday Kane, Shawn, Carmen, and I all went to Fort Worth to see the Star Wars exhibit!! Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination explores the fantasy technologies in the Star Wars films, the science behind them, and current research that may lead to real-life versions of these technologies(or so the press release says).

Kane and Shawn where very excited. So we got the Fort Worth Museum where we had to wait in line to buy tickets. It was not too bad though and we got our tickets just in time to run down the hall and get admitted to the exhibit.

They had full size replicas of some of the vehicles in the movies. Lots of Costumes, ships, and weapons. Besides the movie stuff they had the science that we had now to work toward what they had created in the movies. It was pretty interesting :O) Kane could probably tell you more about it then I could as I am not really that up to date on my star wars stuff. But they did have some cool interactive games and such to play with to keep the kids entertained. We made our own speeders out of legos and had magnets on them to help them hover. They had all sorts of fun interactive stuff. Also there was this one were you build a spaceport, moisture farm community and walled Jawa town. Placing cards on a table - the physical landscape - a computer superimposes a building on a site in virtual reality and real time. It was allot of fun because the computer scored you on your placement of things to see if you could make the things viable. There were also stations to build robots, play with virtual robot faces, and to see what it would be like to have technology enhanced body parts.

As you can see this was a pretty cool mural on one of the walls. Anyway I stayed in the exhibit about 3 hours before I had to leave to eat. I had to almost drag Kane out but he survived the separation with no permanent damage.

They had quite the cool gift shop. As you can see here Yoda and I are just hanging out ~~ I thought it was a cool little backpack. It was a fun afternoon to just get away from the real world for awhile.
