Baby Shower

Laura --- Just got home from Christopher's baby shower. It was beautifully done. Debbie did an awesome job decorating and getting everything together. There was a cake, cookie bouquet, candy and nuts, and punch. Lots of balloons and little trinkets on the table. It looked great. Mom took a lot of pictures and so once she gives them to me I will post them to the gallery.

Christopher now has a complete nursery and lots of new clothes. He also got bouncy chairs, towels, and washcloths. I am going to have to write a lot of thank you notes. I'll list all his gifts later. It was an awesome shower.

I also got a special gift from Debbie --- a bracelet with Kyle and Christopher's names on it. That is one I will wear regularly!!!!! It is beautiful...a perfect gift for a mom!

Busy busy busy

Laura --- I feel like I am under a ticking time bomb -- that at any minute CJ could make his appearance and I have to be ready to go in that case. I have my sub folder created...I just need to do the lesson plan portion, and write a few quizzes, tests and lessons and leave grading strategies....sigh....okay I have a lot to do as far as that is concerned. I need CJ to stay INSIDE until at least March 26th when they force him out into the world.

I wonder how big he is and if he is uncomfortable in there?

Kyle had a bad nightmare last night and John and I alternated rocking him back to sleep. He ended up needing us for an hour and a half before he succombed. He was screaming my name "ma...ma" and it broke my heart. I am glad he is using my name but I don't want him to have these bad dreams either.

John has to go back to see if the sleep apnea machine will help him reach REM sleep on the 8th of March. so....mr. CJ no appearances on that day --- got it?!

John is cleaning house in preparation for visitations this weekend. ...... I am sitting with my feet propped up trying to keep the swelling in my ankles down. MAN am I PREGNANT!

Kyle's picking up speed

Laura --- Kyle's learned to say more words.... "Red (Raid)", "Wow", "Bed (Bee)", "Cook" and "Juice (Joo)" and he knows that dogs go "ruff" and cats go "meow" and he makes those sound effects of course! Kyle can also point out a circle, a square, and a triangle. He knows the difference between all sorts of animals: panda, fox, tiger, mouse, cat, bird, bugs, dog, frog and pig. He knows all his body parts: ear, eye, nose, mouth, toes, tummy, and hands. His favorite color must be red because he points that out in all the books.

He also has learned how to get water and ice from the fridge, how to put the DVD into the Bose System, how to set a table with plates, forks and napkins (even putting the napkin under the plate and fork) and how to put a tape in dad's tape deck.

Our budding genius --- growing up WAY TOO FAST!

35 Weeks and Going Strong

Laura -- We just got back from seeing Dr. Stacey and checking up on little CJ. I am measuring 35 cm or inches or whatever my uterus is supposed to be for 35 weeks. Christopher's heart is humming along at 145 beats a minute and everything looks good. I am now going to be going back to the doctor every week. I guess just to be sure. At least I am not on bed rest. That helps us out.

Dweedle Dee and Dweedle Dum at school are driving me crazy. I hate incompetance! In any case, I keep telling myself "next year will be better!" I hate bringing my frustration home so I am going to let it go for now and yell later. :-)

The Door is Hollow

Laura -- well I discovered something I didn't know today. Doors in my house are hollow. John knew this already but I didn't believe him. I mean after all it is a door, it looks like wood.......

In any case, we were trying to put up robe hangers on the door and John drilled in to see if he could get a molly screw or something like it to work to hold weight. It didn't work. sigh.... Any way, I was helping him take the plastic casings back out and knocked it in instead. It rattled all the way down to the bottom of the door. Oops! So I guess our doors are hollow.

New Words

Laura --- Kyle can now say Coke --- My ball--- and his second sentence "Cars Go...(and then he makes the motor sound)." Our little genius!

What a Difference a Week Makes

Laura --- Well Kyle and I are sitting on the couch watching the Wiggles. Kyle likes the songs and dances to the music. At the moment he is eating powdered donuts and drinking his strawberry milk, running his matchbox cars up and down the "road".

Outside the sun is shining and it is supposed to get up to 60 or so today. Last week at this time, we were bundling up against the snow and getting ready to go outside and play. I guess two days equals winter in Texas and now we are ready for spring!

Today I am going to try to sit down a lot and rest. I go back to the doctor for my 35 week check up and I don't want swollen ankles. There is a lot to do around the house but....it can wait....

Quick Trip

Laura --- After work, Debbie, Kyle and I went to Party City and picked out some decorations, plates, and napkins...things like that for the baby shower for CJ next week. I picked out a duck and baby theme (like the invitations). We got a tablecloth, napkins, cups and plates in that theme. Kyle was disappointed because we didn't buy any helium balloons. I told him that he could have EVERY SINGLE balloon next saturday. We also found some party favors for the people who come. I hope at least some of the people we invited come but....we'll see. So far I only know who isn't coming...nita scott, and Julie Zell. If it is a family party then it will be. :-)

Once John got off work, we went by Stonebriar mall. Kyle wanted to walk through the mall. He held onto each of our fingers and took off. He rode the escalator all by himself (with mom and dad helping in getting on and off). He was smiling so proudly. Anyway, we went by Motherhood Maternity and got support hose. I've read several articles and talked to the nurse at school and they suggested wearing support hose under my clothes will help with my ankles swelling.

Ci Ci's and CSI

Laura --- Well since CJ doesn't like beef or chinese food, John and I had to change our date night to pizza and CSI. We stopped at CiCi's on the way home and got a giant pepperoni pizza. They have good pizza and it isn't expensive or greasy like Domino's. Anyway as soon as Kyle saw the box, we couldnt' get home fast enough. My little boy loves his pizza.

He ran in the house, climbed up on the couch and pointed to the coffee table. He was ready to eat and didn't care if we were or not. I got him a piece and John and I brought things in the house. Kyle ate THREE pieces of pizza.

Now I know what to have for dinner if he gets into a "living on air" kick.

Another Open House

Laura --- Tonight was Open House.....I HATE Open House. I mean I never have any trouble from the parents. They are always complimentary. I just hate talking to parents. I avoid it as much as possible.

Anyway, they were all asking when the baby was due and telling me how much their children love me and my class and that they will miss me. It did make me feel good.

The only thing is that by the end of the night my ankles were about three times larger than they normally are. I stood up too much. Being at work for 13 hours does that to you. It even hurt. I missed Kyle's bath and him going down to bed.

Of course, when I got home I went up to check on him and the little toot had gotten out of bed, and was sitting in his rocking chair, making it rock. He grinned at us like "what....I am just getting ready to go to sleep guys". I rocked him to sleep and he didn't get to bed until 10:00. He will be one tired little boy tomorrow!

The Job

Well, It's Monday morning at 11. I have finally received an answer about the job I applied for. I didn't get it. Evidently, I didn't get it due to a lack of extensive experience in Excell and Access. Oh well, but like credit cards how do you get it if nobody will give it to you? I don't want to sound too upset, but I am disappointed somwhat. I mean, I wanted the job for the hours and the chance to be with Laura and have weekends off like a normal job, but at the same time, I didn't want to give up my days with Kyle and I wasn't sure that this was the job that I thought it was when I applied. Regardless, it doesn't matter now anyway. Just some of my thoughts. Regardless of the outcome, I would be this way.

Snow is Gone --- Short Winter

Laura --- When we got up this morning it was already warming up and all the snow was melting. Kyle, Dad and Mom still got out in it. Kyle fell a couple of times and then decided we needed to come inside. Kyle was standing in the doorway when mom and dad decided to have a mini snowball fight which Kyle thought was HILARIOUS!

We stayed around the house today except for a short errand to best buy to get a water filter for our fridge.....trouble with being a homeowner....everything breaks down and you have to replace it.

Last night Kyle said his first sentence. John was holding a truck book, and Kyle decided that I needed to read it. He told his dad "go bok mama" which roughly translates to Give the Book to Mommy.
:-) Our little genius --- vocabulary growing everyday!

He now says: car, ruck (truck), go, no, no way, go way (go away or stop that), mama, de de, shoes, bok (book), ball, ba -- oon (balloon).

Snow in McKinney

P2140028.JPG

Laura --- Well it snowed last night and it is still snowing. In fact as of 11:00 a.m. it hasn't stopped. I took Kyle out to play in the snow. He picked up and made a few snowballs and threw them until his hands got cold and then he was ready to come in. Here is a shot of our sweetie in the snow! I will post more to the gallery.

Kyle sees more than we realize

Laura --- We have a ritual every night. Kyle picks out books for us to read to him (lately mom and dad each read at least one book if not two). Then, I hold him in my lap on the rocking chair. John kisses him goodnight on the forehead and then kisses me on my forehead. He turns out the light and Kyle and I wave night night and I say we love you daddy, night night daddy.

Tonight after John kissed Kyle on the forehead and was talking to him, Kyle pointed at me and smiled. John kissed me on my forehead, and Kyle shook his head and pointed to my lips. He wanted John to give me a kiss on the lips. So cute. John of course obliged and Kyle had a huge grin.

He sees more than we think he does!

Mom Go to Work

Laura --- This morning, when I dropped Kyle off at Grandma Mullen's, I was bringing in his bag and blankie and all of his "stuff", Kyle meanwhile, had pulled Grandma into the kitchen to fix him a drink and then to the living room to turn on his show! Demanding little boy!! Anyway, I went into the living room to talk to Debbie and Kyle looked at me, pointed to the front door and said "Go Way". I guess that was my cue!

Kyle knows his routines! He is so smart but getting a little attitude!

twirl twirl twirl

Laura --- Kyle discovered a great new game today. He twirled and twirled in a circle and then tried to run at daddy. He laughed and laughed as he fell down. Mom and Dad had to play defender to keep him from falling into sharp cabinets or hitting his head on things.

What a Great Game!!!!

33 weeks and Getting HUGE

P2070200.JPG

Wow! I am humongous now! Anyway..... Christopher has already expanded my belly to 41 inches which was the measurement before I went into labor with Kyle and there are 7 weeks left!!!! Talk about Stretch Marks!

Today we went and visited Great Grandma Mullen who is out of the hospital and feeling better. Yay! She was glad to see us and Kyle was glad to see her. He even brought her toys and wanted to play.

John and I created our own little photo studio and got some adorable Valentine shots of Kyle. Check out the family gallery page to see the best ones. One or two are out of focus but it is hard to keep a two year old (almost!) still!!!

Cold and Hot

Laura --- We think Kyle has two more words: Cold and Hot. When we got out of the car this morning at Grandma's Kyle said --- "coll" which I translate to Cold especially since he wanted his blanket and to go inside quickly. When John pours bathwater on him, he will say "haa" which translates to Hot. Dad has been saying Hot every time he first puts the water on Kyle so that would make sense.

Our budding genius...doing things in his own time!

Christopher (CJ) Beats Up Mom

Laura --- Christopher aka CJ is really giving me what for. He is kicking strong enough now that it hurts and he keeps flexing his muscles, and body parts into my lungs and into my esophogus. Talk about not being able to breathe and HEARTBURN! Augh. . . .

I think my new favorite drink is Peptobismal!

My to do list at school seems to be constantly growing. I have so much to do before CJ comes and it feels like I am running to keep from having no time left. This pregnancy has gone by sooooo fast!

CSI and Chinese --- our date night tonight....:-)

Kyle is 23 Months!

Laura --- today Kyle is officially 23 months. In one month's time he will be a big TWO years old! How fast time flies! We spent the day home together because Debbie needed an extra day before she could watch him. It has been rainy and yucky all day so it was a good day to stay in --- Kyle even took a THREE hour nap! He helped mommy do dishes, laundry, and dust. We play play played as well.

Now we are waiting for daddy to come home and then we are going to cook dinner.

Christopher James is 32 Weeks

Laura --- just got back from the OB-GYN and Christopher (and his mommy) are doing wonderfully. We are both in good health --- although mom's ankles are swelling a little. Christopher was dancing when the doctor was trying to find his heartbeat and so he made it difficult to find. But when the scope found it, it was a steady 140 beats a minute. Healthy little boy!

The doctor thinks that our little boy won't come out of his 24-7 womb service until his due date. Mom wonders.........

8 more weeks to go....
