With rain outside, the boys practiced their speed shopping skills this afternoon. For some reason speed is very important --- the faster you go without the wheels coming off the better off you are.
Sports Camp went off without a hitch today. Kyle tried each sport and decided on soccer as his favorite. His first event was duck duck goose in which Kyle liked to be the one chasing but didn't want to "hit" people first --- his words. Made it interesting. He had the teacher "hit" people and then he ran around being chased. :-)....
Kyle preparing to "compete" in Duck Duck Goose (looking for mom in the spectator crowd).
First up...FOOTBALL. They learned to do the field kick today. Kyle's actually had airtime!
Next, came volleyball and the kids learned to serve the volleyball. I'm sure Aunt Jennifer has a million pointers for him, but Kyle said that Volleyball hurt his fingers and he didn't like it.
Next was Basketball, and the kids attempted to dribble --- mostly they just chased after the ball after they threw it in front of them. Kyle really had fun throwing and chasing after the ball.
Next was Soccer and the kids all tried to kick the ball into the goal. They were supposed to go around the cones first, but none of them did -- a few kicked the cones and put them on their head and for some reason the coach didn't want them to???? :-) Kyle found his favorite part of soccer is going into the goal after the ball.
Last they played T Ball and practiced hitting the whiffle ball off the tee and running around the bases. Kyle hit the ball so hard it went all the way across the gym and hit one of the other coaches in the leg. What an arm!
The boys enjoyed a respite from the summer heat in our backyard kiddie pool. Neither boy needed encouragement and jumped or flopped :-) right into the water!
Kyle got to play baseball (t ball), football, basketball, and duck duck goose (the sport of champions). He was clingy at first and didn't want to do what the coach said but after a while he ran and played with the skill of his mama. Those who know me know what that means. Hopefully he will start to reflect the athleticism of his daddy becuase after all today was just the first day!
His favorite was chasing the football --- see picture above and playing with the basketballs.
The church had a summer party for the preschoolers today. The 2, 3 and 4 year olds met in the gym for bike riding. Kyle and CJ had a lot of fun especially since it didn't bother them to borrow other children's bikes and riding toys. They had a bounce house and when someone went into the bounce house and left their riding toy on the floor, one of my boys borrowed it to ride around on. :-) No one really minded and we even had some kids borrow ours so they aren't thieves in the making or anything. Kyle loved the bounce house and CJ loved riding around with the big kids. They had snacks and a storytime. A good time was had by all.
Kyle was part of the parade in the neighborhood and then he got to play in the splash from the fire truck's hoses. He had a blast. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner with apple pie and strawberries and ice cream.
Then John and I went to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It was really good.
Great fourth of July
