Kyle and CJ (or rather Christopher James which is what he is calling himself now) relaxed on top of each other while watching Disney this morning. Nothing like using your brother for a pillow!
This morning while it was still cool, the boys went swimming. The painters were working on the front so we were at no risk of paint splatter. We put the swimsuits on and within five minutes the boys had stripped and were skinny dipping. My boys like to swim "all natural".

Here is Kyle finishing his drink outside of the movie theatre. He LOVES the cars movie so we took a picture next to the poster. We actually went and saw the summer kids' movie for this week --- Robots.
We had popcorn and a drink and Kyle told me everything that was going to happen next. :-)

Here is Kyle telling mom that she doesn't need to take a picture of everything!

When Grandma and Mommy were going through the upstairs rooms, they found one of Jennifer's old dolls that looked like a baby which was instantly claimed by Kyle and CJ. --- Kyle and CJ practiced their Daddy skills. CJ rocked the baby, and put the baby to bed. (He tried to give the baby a bath but Mommy wouldn't let him).

Kyle played clapping games with the baby and read the baby a book.

What wonderful daddies they will be!
Kyle found a new great outdoor toy: the slip and slide. CJ wasn't so sure it was a good thing but Kyle had a blast.

John only halfway done (one tire) and already nice and dirty....but becoming an expert at changing the brakes on cars.
Here is the reason the brakes needed changing. The one on the left of the picture is a new one, the one on the right is the one that was on the van --- almost gone entirely.
Step One: Find the correct noodles to use. Not all of them are good enough for the family --- they have to be a certain size you see...Kyle knows which ones are best and CJ helps him find the good ones.
Step Two: Add Water to the pot. Both Kyle and CJ poured in the perfect amount of water --- and stirred it with their hands to add that special touch.
Step Three: Add salt and pepper to the water....not sure why? but Kyle and CJ are the experts here.
Step Four: Pound the heck out of the meat...tenderize it! This is the most fun..especially when you send pieces of ground beef all over the kitchen with the force of your blows.
Step Five: Season. Use all the garlic you possibly can --- isn't that mom's favorite? and anyway...it will keep the vampires away.
Step Six: Make mom cook it all.
After Grannie's funeral on the 10th, I wrote this poem...kind of a reflection on the women left behind when those they love pass on. It is still a rough draft...I am working on perfecting it. :-)
The Last One to the Ball
they left
one by one
in formal black coaches
without her
she held her invitation
but
she stayed behind
to cross off her list
the things left to do
they take time
these lists
and she won’t be going
until
they’re crossed off
she looks
with wistful longing
at the far off lights and
the faint melody of the gavotte
whispers in her ears
she can imagine
all of them
together
dancing
talking
reveling
yet she knows
they’ll be plenty left
once
she arrives in her own
black coach
dressed to the hilt
covered in jewels
but its not yet time
she folds her invitation
plunks it in her apron pocket
and turns
from the door
there is just so much to do
before the ball
Always more fun to be covered with dirt!
CJ and Kyle were playing in the backyard at Grandma's without mom watching and Kyle discovered if you mix the pond water with dirt you get mud. CJ discovered that it is fun to put it on your face. Boys...
