My future brother-in-law, Kane, was involved in a car accident yesterday. Yesterday I was told what was basically known, he was in a car accident, then transferred to another hospital so he could have surgery on his hand and part of his arm. Today my mom called me and filled me in on the rest.
What Kane does recall, is that he was going over a hill, and he saw what he thought was an 18-wheeler, and it was smoking, the tires were smokin, so it probably was breaking. He put on his breaks and managed to stop without hitting it. The car behind him, however, didn't stop in time and hit him under what he thought was an 18-wheeler and ended up being a truck towing a flat bed. His car slid under the flat bed. Then an SUV came up, and tried to veer out of the way. Ended up with a 5 car pile-up. Kane's car caught on fire, the flat bed caught on fire, and another car. He doesn't remember getting out of the car, but he does remember being out of it, and his hair was slightly singed, as well as his left arm slighty burned. A lot of the skin on his left hand and arm was like if you took sand paper to it and just rubbed it off. They re-atched several tendants to his fingers and hands. He had a few gauges at his wrist and halfway between his wrist and elbow. They will have to do some skin grafts, but more than just that, they'll have to take some of the fatty material too, or else the grafted skin would just stick to the tendens and not be flexable. They've knocked out the nerve connection for now so he doesn't feel the pain.
So, that's the news on that.
TUMEO.
Man! that's a crazy accident :( hope he gets better soon. Sorry to hear that.
