phpBB Update

Got an e-mail from my webhost, PowWeb, telling me that the phpBB forum I had setup on one of my accounts was an older version that allowed people to install stuff on the server and that I need to immediatly update it to fix the problem. So I did that tonight, updating all 3 of the forums I have on my servers. Fun times.

Other than that, it appears I need high A's (95+) on 3 of my finals in order to get A's in the class. My fourth class, it looks like I'll be getting a B in. Guess I'll see how much studying will pay off. Finals on Monday @2pm, Tuesday @10am, Thursday @8am and @10am. All done by Noon on May 5th. Then freedom for about a month before summer classes at totally cool college.

Umm.....

Wow, here's a link, to a oh-so-lovely-story, courtesy of my old roommate, Wes's, blog. Just another link to add to Erik's.

Now off to government class. After that class, I only have 1 more session of class for all my classes, yeppie!

A Wedding Besides my Sister's

Well, I got awoken this morning by Rob (morning equals 11am, which is early morning for me!! =P). Lydia and Rob are finally getting married on this Saturday. Crazy times!! Congrats to them both. I'll be there for sure. In a few years there might even be little Rob Robbins running around, that's a scary thought!!

Just 1 more week of classes, then a week of finals. So close, yet so far away. Also, there's a karate belt test going on in Pawnee on Monday, so that should be fun.

Not too much else coming to mind, there was a number of things I wanted to say, can't think of them right now though, hmmm... Oh well, off to dream land for me.

Stuff

I have the "our story" section and the "photo album" section up now on my sister's wedding website. I just have to make pretty one page and add the directions to the Goines.

Not much else to say right now. Only 1 and a half weeks left of classes, then a week of finals. Yeppie. Oh, I got a 98 on my last government exam. Still makes me mad about the first test where I marked answers as C that I meant to mark as D's... Need a 93 on the final to get an A. Assuming I get full points on my last in class writing and the homework assignment I turned in, then I just need a 92 on my History Exam.

    Anyways, relaxing time.

A-kon Alert

For those friends planning on going to A-Kon 16, here's a friendly reminder that the last day to get a cheaper rate for membership of A-kon is April 15th. I'd suggest doing it on-line, however, remember that if you do, you get the receipt via e-mail, and if you trash the e-mail, you trash your ability to claim your membership. You might also notice the a-kon website has changed. They did an update to the design. Personally, it's not visually better, however, it seems to be better organized.

Here's an interesting piece of information from the people of A-kon: Last year we had almost a literal ton of signs (and the people who held them) clogging up the airwalk between the hotel and the convention center. Many of them were not signs that had to do with a costume (aka a giant panda holding a sign, or a ninja with a sign that read 'sneak sneak sneak' (my personal favorite). These signs were in some cases blatant solicitations, begging, or offers of sale ("will do X for $", "need food", "kiss me for $", etc.). These signs not only are a real nuisance to people trying to walk unaccosted through the convention, but in some cases are flat out breaking the law. Dallas has a 'no solicitation' law and we cannot stress the danger of some of those signs (some seem dangerously akin to prostitution, and could result in jailing of an offender, or worse). This has become a phenomena across the country at all kinds of cons, and what was once novel and cute has become hazardous (to the point of breaking fire codes, as well as hazardous to personal safety) and a real nuisance. Cons across the country are cracking down on this as it's dangerous to people and detrimental to the spirit of the con. People want to have fun, not be assaulted by beggars at every turn.

I, myself, remember a lot of those signs too, they were annoying, only a rare few being humorous or cute.

Anyways, not much else going on. School, Karate, study, trying to relax on the computer, etc. That's all for now.

Future Brother-in-Law

My future brother-in-law, Kane, was involved in a car accident yesterday. Yesterday I was told what was basically known, he was in a car accident, then transferred to another hospital so he could have surgery on his hand and part of his arm. Today my mom called me and filled me in on the rest.

What Kane does recall, is that he was going over a hill, and he saw what he thought was an 18-wheeler, and it was smoking, the tires were smokin, so it probably was breaking. He put on his breaks and managed to stop without hitting it. The car behind him, however, didn't stop in time and hit him under what he thought was an 18-wheeler and ended up being a truck towing a flat bed. His car slid under the flat bed. Then an SUV came up, and tried to veer out of the way. Ended up with a 5 car pile-up. Kane's car caught on fire, the flat bed caught on fire, and another car. He doesn't remember getting out of the car, but he does remember being out of it, and his hair was slightly singed, as well as his left arm slighty burned. A lot of the skin on his left hand and arm was like if you took sand paper to it and just rubbed it off. They re-atched several tendants to his fingers and hands. He had a few gauges at his wrist and halfway between his wrist and elbow. They will have to do some skin grafts, but more than just that, they'll have to take some of the fatty material too, or else the grafted skin would just stick to the tendens and not be flexable. They've knocked out the nerve connection for now so he doesn't feel the pain.

So, that's the news on that.

Another Exciting Link

Thanks to Erik, I have yet another link to share. Eat that Spammers! Is nine enough though??

I figured I needed to update, since one of my friends, who said he'd update every day for a week, hasn't for the past two days, and neither have I. So yeah, I'm updating, and maybe he'll update.

Not much going on, finally a Friday where I'm free to just be a bum all day. Well not really, I'm slowly working on the last 2 pages for Emily's Wedding Website. Just the Photo Album and the "Accomedations" page left. And yes, I'm lazy.

Little Ninjai yet again

I'm pretty sure that Ninjai, the Little Ninja was updated back in March, but I kept forgetting to go to the site and check. Well, I did, and they did. Still wish it was longer, like I wished chapter 11 was longer. And who knows how long until Chapter 13 comes out. But anyways, check it out if you feel like it.

Something that Erik passed along my way via AIM: Hitachi's cool informative, learning flash thingy(make sure to have your sound ON). That's right, Hitachi has re-invited the way transisters and what-not are positioned so that in what you used to fit a byte of data in can now be 10 bytes. Basically, you can make things 10x smaller and have them hold as much as they did. Pretty nifty. You ask yourself, why didn't they think of this before? Well, before they didn't have the little things that stored that byte so tiny, so they didn't have some of the problems they have now. You can read about it here.

That's about all I really have to say. Ug, more school, ug.

Summer Classes

Well, I got all 3 of my classes picked out and enrolled for now. 2 of them (English Comp II and Intercultural Communication) will be internet courses. The other will be on Mondays and Fridays, that one is Physics I. Yeppie. I would have gone with Japanese, but unfortunatly, OSU does not accept the first "introductory" course of foreign languages as an "International Dimensions" course. After careful review of the professors on Rate My Professor, I picked my classes. I will end up missing two class periods for physics due to camp. I'll bring that up with the instructor on the first day.

I think I might, after graduating, maybe take some "Continuing Education/Non-credit" courses at TCC, like Japanese, just to learn it. Meh, have to see how I feel after I graduate. I'll learn more that way anyways, b/c then I won't be doing it for a grade.

Nice weather we have had the last two days. Been wearing shorts. Today I wore sandels. Well, that's about all I have for now. Going to Pawnee for Karate tonight.

Edit: I almost forgot. OEFNetwork's server will expire on the 17th of April. Hopefully my friends will help me to remember to give them the information so they can move their stuff before then. I hope to have stuff setup by the end of this week for that.

School

Well, I got things fixed with TCC (totally cool college), and now I can enroll for 10 hours. I'm going to take my English Comp II course over the internet, and then take the other two like normal. The problem is, there really aren't that many International Dimension courses, pretty much all foreign languages. Maybe I'll take Japanese. Anyways, I enroll for that tomorrow, so fun times.

About to take a shower and then head off for AWANA at the church here in Stillwater. Just got done eating at IHOP with the suitemates.

Got a lot I gotta mess with tonight and tomorrow. Enrolling, last touches on the wedding website for my sister. Plus I got an exam this week. Only 4 more weeks of classes though, then 1 week of finals. Done on the 5th of May. It's going to be pretty hard for me to pull of A's in a few of my courses. That first exam in Government really through it off. Basically I have to get 100's in Government and Business Law to get A's. Looking like a mostly B semester.

My mom is still sick with pneumonia. My friend Max got back from Iraq a day or 3 ago, and my friend, Joe lost his dog on April 1st. The dog got cancer in his leg. Jay is going to be doing more work with yet another organization while down in China area.

    Time for a shower.
