Dentist and Such

Been back in Stillwater for awhile now. Worked on some homework, ate some dinner, not too much excitement. Now I'm going to push and try and get my homework finished up, then classes again tomorrow. Tuesday is the "graduation fair", where I'll get to buy my cap and gown and a diploma frame, isn't that so exciting. I'll also get some graduation announcments. I need to remember to look into testing out of one of the 2 remaining classes that I'll need, that'll make next semester even easier at TCC.

So I went to the dentist on Friday. Got three of my teeth taken care of. The dentist had already numbed up my mouth a bit when I mentioned about possibly measuring how big I can open, while they were getting things ready he found a measuring device he had. We did a little preliminary measurement this time (going to probably video tape the measuring, then send it in to Guinness World Records). The typically person can open their mouths about 40mm (that's from the top of the bottom teeth to the bottom of the top teeth), mine measured 73mm that day (roughly 2.87 inches). I'll have to do some stretching for 3 weeks from now when I go in again.

I just relaxed all weekend, more or less. I did catch Doom, and enjoyed it, it wasn't cheesy or completely stupid, I'd recommend it, I wouldn't be upset at all if I paid money to see it. That's about all for now, off to do some homework, the joys the joys...

Homecoming

Homecoming is this weekend apparently, not that I care all that much. I'm kinda glad I'll not be here this weekend, avoid all that mess. I'm sure some of my friends will throw a party, so I'll regret missing that and hanging with them. Coming back on Saturday night/Sunday morning will stink, b/c a lot more students will stay the weekend making parking a pain. Tomorrow will be fun, I'll get to run from my last class, hit my room, throw down my books, grab all my laundry and laptop, run to the car and head for Tulsa so I can make it to the dentist by 1pm.

So, 2 things I didn't mention in my last post, 1) Zach Hightower is a bad bad person that didn't use his turn signal properly this last weekend (see, told you I'd mention it!!) and 2) while at IHOP, we met an interesting character named Troy. He was slightly intoxicated and ended up telling us a lot about his recent life, and wife, and how his favorite drink was Captain Morgan (of whom I resemble when having a curly mustache).

To answer my sister's question: No Laura, I'm not actually taking Japanese right now. My roommate, Matt Hafner, has showed me a little, mainly just a few words I asked him about. I will be taking Japanese after I'm done with OSU this semester, however. He also brought up his first Japanese instruction book, which I haven't had the time to look through yet, but it should help me get a little head start.

I'm about to go and check out a church where I'll be doing a karate demonstration at on Nov. 5th. Then I might practice trying to break some bricks to see how many I can do.

That's about all for now, nothing else is coming to mind. Oh well, there is THAT.

I got the rooms rented for A-Kon. This time I got 2 rooms, but one of them is a suite. The suite comes with a bedroom area with two queen beds about the same size as the regular rooms, but in addition it has a sitting area. By getting a suite and a regular room, actually end up saving 144.30 after tax compared to get 3 regular rooms. While this means that there are less beds altogether, there is now a sitting room where we can mingle and not disturb those who go to bed sooner than others, plus the sitting room probably has some couches and such, so we end up having the same amount of space. Total cost for rooms and estimated parking (for 4 cars) is $1496.4, if just 12 people go, that's $124.7 each, if 15 go it's $99.76 each.

Another Week

Only about 6 weeks of classes left, 8 altogether, including this week. Got another test back today. Didn't do as well on it, but I was expecting, plus it was the "hardest" of 4. My test average is still in the mid 80's, plus I got homework, and 2 more tests, so we'll see how I do in that class.

I was a lazy bum most of the weekend, had things I had to do Friday and Saturday that kept me from possibly going to Norman and visiting my friends their. This coming weekend I get to go to Tulsa and have 3 of my cavities drilled and filled. I might try and get myself into Starworld and catch the Doom movie, and Waiting.

My japanese writing is getting fairly good, at the 3 things I know how to write anyways! This is what I can write:

弓道

Well, that's about all for now, I have to get to my next class, 2 left for the day, and then off to Pawnee for karate!

Fall Break Results

Fall Break was relaxing. Didn't do a whole lot, which is always fun. I went to the dentist and then the eye doctor. Guess what... I have 9 cavities, woot. Heh.. I got it on all sections, so I have to get them taken care of in 4 different sessions, one for the top left of my mouth, top right, bottom left, bottom right. That'll be fun. I also got some flouride stuff to brush my teeth with at night. My eyes haven't changed, and I'm looking into get lasik so I can be done with glasses and contacts, not sure if it'll happen or not, if it does, it'll be in Jan. or Feb. most likely.

My dad's oil company has been bought out by another oil company, ironically it's one he worked for in the past apparently. Upper management usually doesn't transfer over when there's a buy out. The closing will happen in mid Jan. and there's a possiblity that my dad might stay on a little longer than that to help sell some things. Probably my mom and dad will be moving to Texas around summer time, maybe earlier.

My grandpa is doing a lot better. He says that the next time I see him he won't be using the "silver bullet" (what he calls the walker he's using right now, i think... silver something). He can walk some without it already. He still has some way to go, but is getting there with the exercises and such.

Anyways, got my test scores back. The one test that I figured I got at least a 75 on and probably a B on, well.. I got a 97 on it, so... My other one I got an 85 after the curve. That's about it, already done with my one day of classes this week, though I do have a test tomorrow.

Pictures!

Here's two pictures of me sporting my Bastok shirt from the game Final Fantasy XI (click images for larger picture)

And here's pictures of my father and I:

The kanjii in my pictures at the top are for archery, which I can actually write myself, and in the bottom four, father and son.

The Day After

Well, the tests went fairly well, not saying I aced them, but I definatly think I passed them. Just got the one class tomorrow, then a day of being a bum, then something Saturday afternoon and after that, Tulsa. Half of the school year is pretty much over. I'm so close to being done, so close! I still gotta take 2 classes at TCC, but that's easy classes, so just a minor annoyance.

So... this is old, but: Regeneration of body parts, and they are making zombies!?

Tests

3 tests this week. I already took one on Monday, and found out I made a 97 on it. Got 2 more today, one in 25 minutes. Both of them are my "harder" classes, and I'm not entirely sure what to expect. Hopefully I'll do well.

Not a whole lot else, been working out. This weekend is nice and long thanks to Fall Break, no school on the coming Monday or Tuesday. I'll use that time to have the joys of my teeth examined and my eyes checked. I'll be coming home on Saturday though, instead of Friday. Got a few things I need to do up in Stillwater before I head back on Saturday.

Alright, well, gotta start heading to class to take the test.

A-Kon 17

A-Kon 17 (June 9-11) is 8 months away, however, we need to start thinking about it now. Erik has already posted on his blog, and his comment section is still waiting for replies from people. I'm going to go ahead and rent the rooms, since I'm able to cancel them up to 24 or 48 hours before the day of. I'm also buying my place there, since the price goes up October 10th. And for some LAME reason, it costs 2 extra dollars to register on-line then via mail because of "processing". Anyways, post on Erik's blog if you are interested in going!

School is still chugging along. Got 2 tests next week, yeppie... Then fall break after that week on the 17th-18th. I'm now doing pull-ups, chin-ups and dips without any assistance from the machine, doing them free hanging from the bars. That's all for now, need to get my shower in.

Weekend with Grandpa & J-Night

On Saturday, Grandpa Potter finally got to come home. He started to perk up when he heard he'd be released, he didn't much enjoy the hospital. He looked a lot better on Saturday then when I saw him on Friday. Saturday I helped pick-up a new recliner. It's nice, and Grandpa says it's comfortable. On Sunday, he seemed to be doing even better. He's still pretty tired/weak. Emily is staying a few more days there to help out, and we've setup a bed downstairs, since he doesn't need to be messing with stairs yet. The left side of his face is still a little paralyzed, which is affecting his speech and eating slightly. I'll see him again on Friday, when I head back to Tulsa for the weekend. I didn't mention it before, but he's also been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He's getting medication for that now.

J-Night

I went to J-Night on Sunday evening with my roommate and Doug. It was pretty cool. J-Night is a program the Japanse Student Association puts on. Had a nice dinner before a show. I also go some caligraphy done for "archery" and "bo staff". The dances, drums, and performances were very interesting, glad I got the chance to go. They had a little trouble figuring out what word bo staff actually was, hopefully they got it right? The paper the caligraphy is on is about 9 1/2 x 13, it's actually a little tiny bit past 13. I'll have to hunt for some frames for them.

That's all for now, I think I'm going to take a nap, need to catch up on some sleep.
