Controlling Weather

I think マット(Matto) gave me this link, thought I'd post it here. It's about the Chinese, and their weather controlling techniques. Rain rain go away indeed!

Life is still chugging along at a fairly steady pace. I just had my 2nd lesson assessment test in Japanese(日本語[this correct Matto?]). I think I did really well on it, definatly a B if not an A. I have an oral exam on this coming Tuesday, kinda worried about that one. I also have my final for Intercultural Communications tonight, but I'm not really worried about that one. Work is work.

Hopefully I will get a "cover letter" written up tonight after the test and start sending out mail to people begging... err... asking for money for the Brazil trip in March. I've been bad about that. Anyone that wants to donate, you'll get a receipt you can use for taxes and such! Just make checks payable to Combat Team Ministries.

That's about all I can think of for now.

500 miles and V-day

On Monday night I passed 500 miles in my car. Still running great as far as I can tell.

Yesterday was Valentines Day, so, Happy belated Valentines Day. I would have posted, but was pretty busy most of the day going to classes and getting work ready for said classes. On Tuesday nights I have 1 class from 6pm to 9:20pm. It's a small class, and I figured since the females of the class had to be there on Valentines Day, I might as well get them a flower and some kisses (Hershey Kisses of course). There is also a Russian girl in the class. She moved here when she was 15. So I had my father teach me how to say "you are very beautiful" in Russian. It's been awhile since he used Russian, so he couldn't quite remember the different endings when addressing a male or female, didn't mention to me that he forgot it though. It's ok, the first time I tried to say it to her, I, of course, said it wrong and it sounded like I was talking about the color red, which I'm sure my face was. So I tried again and get it a little more correct. "Ochen' krasivaja" is the correct way. She found it amusing. Nothing much came of it, my shyness didn't help me try and pursue any more than that.

After the class, which got out early, I decided I would go and watch Pink Panther at the theatre. On my way, I was passing by the Arby's that Joe's sister works at, and realized I was quite hungry, so I stopped by and she was working. I gave her several kisses as well (Hershey's of course). Pink Panther was great too, other people were in there and laughed a whole lot. Steve Martin did a really good job. I'd definatly recommend it.

    That's all for now.

100 mile Pics and more

There's the pics from my phone that I took when I hit 100 miles! Yeppie. I also just got my license plates on Friday.

I went to Village Inn on Friday night with some friends. I was trying to pick between having french toast or a hamburger, because they are so similiar, and couldn't make up my mind. So I asked if I could have two pieces of french toast with a burger between them. The cooks, being a little confused with the order, didn't quite get it right the first time (though I was never told this, the waiter saw it and was like... umm, no), they ended up doing a variation on the french toast part, but dang, did that burger taste great. The fench toasted buns added this sweetness to the burger that was just amazing. Everyone should go and order one, then they'll put it on the menu and then people will see it and wonder and try it and then it will catch on world wide!! I'm so having one everytime I go.

Milestones

Yesterday I broke the 100 mile marker on my car, and then the 250 mile marker. Currently I'm over 300 miles, and I did my first gas fill up. The gas mileage? well, they say they filled the gas tank up full, but I have no idea if they did or not. Plus the fact that I am "breaking in" the car means I am varying the speed a lot while I'm driving, which results in not as good gas mileage. This run, assuming the gas tank was in fact full, is about 30 miles to the gallon. Not sure how it will all pan out once the engine is fully broken in and such.

In other news, a single 60-calorie chocolate-chip cookie could power a laptop for four hours!

That's all for now, I was going to post pictures I took from my camera, but I gotta do stuff to make it connect to my laptop, and I'm lazy.

Pictures of Scion!

Here she is, notice how it naturally reflects the light so beautifully:

With the doors and hatch open:

The view when entering from the driver's side:

The console/storage/all that stuff:

The steering wheel with volume, switching between presets, and mode control:

The "AUX", or mp3(iPod) player plug-in:

Because I'm such a nice guy, I made sure there was a cup holder for the people in the back seat:

The rear storage with a little pull out thing to cover items from sunlight (it's removable):

The full storage, with seats laid down:

And that's it. Drove my mom, dad and grandpa to fish daddy's for lunch today, part of the reason I'm not posting until now. I saw Pepe there, and finally gave him his Christmas present. Also took the last thing I needed to my insurance people.

Giddy as a Schoolgirl

My Scion xA came in tonight. It arrived on the truck around 4pm, that's when I got the phone call, just as I was about to get in the shower. Very very glad I decieded to answer the call. They still needed to do the detailing and stuff, so I couldn't get it right then, but later. I got the VIN number from him so I could get the temp insurance thingy so I could drive the car. So I rushed through my shower and then rushed over to the insurance office and got stuff hammered out so I would be able to drive the car off the lot. Then I went to work, worked, and then PICKED UP MY CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it took forever, but I have it now, and I'm happy. I'll post pictures later today, take them sometime when the sun is out. Got my nicer shifter nob on there and cruise control. When I first got in the car, I went to turn the key, and just before I did, my brain was like BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG, hello, you have a REAL car now, it's a manual, clutch in to start idiot! Body gotta get adjusted to the manual, didn't stall it, of course. Had to figure out the clutch to gas ratio on the first drive. Just have to get used to the car. Didn't get to drive it a lot, just from the dealer back to work, and after work, work to home. It definatly has some pep, I was going and then was like... 40 already, shesh, and I'm taking it easy to break it in.

It's nice that it has a plug in for an iPod or mp3 player, too bad I don't have one... or any mp3's for that matter. Love the volume control and presets/seeker buttons on the steering wheel. Finally a car with a CD player, maybe I'll finally start to get CDs? Plus it has the feature where you can have the volume get louder as you go faster, since the road noise gets louder. And the hydraulics I have installed.... haha, j/k, like I'd do that. Can't forget the first aide kit!! Anyways... guess I should get some sleep, pictures tomorrow!
