Andrea's good friend, and also ex-boyfriend, was in town this weekend from Halifax... he is doing a mission trip of some sort across the country, part of his schooling to become a priest. Needless to say it was AWKWARD... on so many levels. Anyways, we went out for sushi and then some beer afterwards. Luckily it was less awkward as the night went on...
Off to bed now... getting up at 6:30 so I can have couple of hours to write my paper for Tuesday. Then class at 12:30.
I'm updating from my MacBook, got it about 3 days ago. Really enjoying it and still learning how to use it.
Also been busy networking. It tailed off last week and really busy last 2 days meeting with people. Here's what's happening.
1) Met with Dan, the president of the mining association, and he suggested I sit on the Asia-Pacific Trading Mission Committee and volunteer my time to companies at the committee. They might need someone to man the booth or speak a bit of Mandarin at China Mining Conference in Beijing this November.
Their next issue of the magazine is purely on Asia-Pacific, so they invited me to write an article. I can attach a biography which gets distributed to 5,000 members and hopefully land a job that way.
2) Met Graham at his company's presentation and asked me to call him. Finally got a hold of him yesterday and told me to phone back mid next week when his head Community Relations guy is in town. They have projects in China, Uganda and possibly Mongolia. He seem really sincere so I hope we will spend some time to chat next week.
Met few other people, very busy. Had a midterm this week and another one next week and proposals to do. I'll have to squeeze in this article for Dan with the deadline next Friday. 5,000 potential viewers... too good to pass up. There's also a resource investment conference this weekend so I'll go for a few hours... it is FREE!
Yeah... too much to do and too little time.
