cold,wet Holloween

We woke to rain, wind and cool temperatures. I hope that the children are safe tonight while trick or treating. I have my stash of candy which I have kept hidden for tonight. Our doorbell gets a good work out on Halloween..lots of children in this neighborhood. I see that a lot of area churches and businesses are offering alternative parties and such for the children and this seems an excellent idea. Grandpa is doing much better this week and seems to have more energy and more alert...though he takes advantage of his recliner to NAP!! He is exercising as ordered by the Physical Therapist will be driving to McKinney,Texas this Saturday for the employee sale through Van Heusen.Grandpa needs numerous clothing items and shoes..etc. I plan to drive down on Friday and spend some time with Emily before going over to Laura's for the night.I'll drive back on Monday.Emily, Laura and I will shop on Saturday and Sunday here and there in the area for our "bargins".Grandpa and I have concluded that most of the TV showes this season are about aliens or dead people!!Not a lot to watch these days.I've been getting things together for AWANA this wednesday as it is time for the kids to get special treats if they said the required number of verses this quarter of the year.I have 12 to 14 that have achieved that goal and have been shopping and making the braids for the T&T club members. The job situation is still unknown so far and probably will be until January. We will definitely not be in Oklahoma next fall as there are no jobs here for Robert. He is still trying to decide just what he want to do......Grandpa and I just want to move South to the warmer temperatures. Also, my girls and grandkids are in Texas so that is a definite possibility. Will keep you up to date as I have time to sit and type.

Run, run, run

Another week has whizzed by and I'm still trying to catch up with things from last week. Jonathan and I had our eyes examined this morning and neither prescription has changed significantly. Jonathan is thinking of lasik but not me!I don't like the idea of someone cutting on my cornea.I do have extremely dry eyes and the Dr fussed at me for neglecting the drops.Grandpa is doing just fine and getting stronger. He's soon going to be running around without the walker...He says!!The PT will be here this afternoon and we'll see how he does with her....I put new batteries in his hearing aids so we don't have to yell.We took a long stroll yesterday afternoon and he took off like he was in a race.He has plenty of company as the RN comes every Tuesday to drain his blood and do a routine check up, The Physical Therapist comes 2 times for his work out and the Aide comes 2 times to help with shower and shave!!!He has been getting cards and letters and calls....Thanks to all of you for your communications.Robert is out of town until Wednesday evening and I'll be leaving Thursday afternoon for Arkansas to help my mother with the Smith Reunion and to do whatever she has in mind while I'm there.I'll be returning on Monday.Robert's company is being bought-out by Occidental Petroleum so we've got some major decisions to make between now and mid-January.Will keep you informed on all fronts......got to RUN!!

Long ago and far away

Seems like ages since I last had a chance to sit and type....Laura, John and the boys just left to return to Texas. It has been a busy week with the boys.Days and Nights get mixed up and I had to look at the calendar to know what day it was.Grandpa Potter is doing better each day.He can go all over the downstairs with the walker and is getting the left side strengthened. The nurses and physical therapy people and nurse aide etc will be in and out next week checking this and that and working tired muscles etc...Grandpa has a good attitude and seems to be making the best of the situation. We had to buy some warmer clothes for Grandpa as the weather changed in a day and now it is quite chilly in the mornings and evenings. We celebrated our birthdays with Laura and family and Jonathan yesterday.I got a carrot cake and Robert a chocolate...I have a new set of books to read from the girls and Jonathan gave me a set of Sherlock Homes DVD...so I'm pretty well ready for another month.Laura and Jonathan gave Robert special T-shirts with the Final Fantacy theme which may show up on the blog. All in all, we had a fun birthday and another year has passed.Jonathan is getting things together to return to OSU. The house will be strangely quiet next week. Will write later...got to get to a cup of coffee and maybe the paper!!!!!
