At Laura's

I am at Laura's visiting Laura, John, Kyle, and CJ.... We are in the middle of nap time. Kyle having gone done and CJ just having woken up. We went shopping this morning of course...what else would I do while visiting my shopping fiend older sister. I found two nice cool tops for camp. Cool as in cold not as in hip although I think they are still cool...
I am still looking for some nice, tough, outdoor, sandels. We will look tommorow or tonight at Kohl's... We'll see.
I lived up to my aunt responsibilites and taught Kyle how to throw balls down stairs and leave them there to create a death trap. Yeah me. Also he sat at the top of the stairs and laughed and laughed and demanded I throw balls at him (I don't get) while I was at the bottem. He liked it the most when I hit him with the balls. Strange kid. CJ is having fun, playing with a flower rattle thing.
Laura is tired and maybe getting sick and John is at work.
Joy to the world.
I am hoping my garden gets watered while I am gone. and nothing dies. Although my arugula is flowering which means it won't be edible much longer. Just hold on arugula I will eat you on Monday.

Radishes can burn

Okay so I tried a radish today from garden. And can I just say it tried to burn my face off. Man I thought I had gotten past the so hot it hurts stage but I think you have to pick them early. Other notes on the garden the arugula (a kind of lettuce) and the peas seem to be flourishing and my land lady gave me some tomatoes so all I need to do know is buy some peppers and I'll be set. Things seem to be growing pretty well but the weather is just now heading toward hot so we'll see.
And other fronts. The incompetency of the YWCA is bugging me a lot. So camp starts in two weeks and it seems like they have no idea what they are doing. It makes me want to scream. I am mostly looking forward to camp but also sort of apprehensive and hoping it will not be totally lame.
Had a pretty good first week as a single woman, but honestly didn't get a whole lot done do to being at other people's houses almost every day. IT's good to have friends but I could use a break. Had a great sunday though. OH well....
That's all for now

Two weeks as a single woman

Well Rene left this morning for two weeks of REC week (that's InterVarsity's summer camp). It was weird and sad to see him go, one cause I will miss him, and two because this is the first time in 10 years I am not going too! I really miss being a staff worker, more so every day but I know I made the right decision when I left staff.
I have gotten my first teacher application and must admit I find it a bit daunting. I need six refrences and gobs of other things as well. I am going to do it though and just suck it up and move forward. We all gotta do what we gotta do.
So what am I going to do with my weeks of freedom.... well work and get stuff done around the house and hang out with friends and stuff. Working a lot this week tommorow in particular, 10 to 6... I know some of you are crying for me what with actually having to work a full 8 hour day. My life is so hard.
So I am going to play, clean, work in the yard, and create (I am a little behind on baby presents)....
Tell you more later.

The miracle of Radishes

So after having unsuccessfully trying to grow radishes for three years. This year miracle of miracles I have grown three (for now) edible radishes. Previous years they have been tiny (no bigger than the tip of an eraser) and also so spicey they burn your face right off. And much to my delight the first edible plant of the year are three bright and happy radishes.
Sadly my tomato plants didn't survive the transfer outdoors. Frustrating!!! So I guess I will have to go the loser way of buying already grown plants from the store and sticking them in the ground.
I seem to be waging a losing battle with bugs and weeds and am planning a full out asault with "natural" chemicals to drive them all away. We'll see how it goes. Other than that.

HMMMMM....

Well I am seriously considering appyling for a teaching job. After all I do have a teaching degree and don't have to make minimum wage. So we'll see how that goes. I am planning to work at a camp this summer and hopefully make it down to Dallas in mid May. Other than that work has gotten pretty easy and the house is getting somewhat under control. I feel calm and peaceful. Let you know if anything else happens.
