An official teacher

So as of yesterday I officially accepted the position as an 8th grade science teacher and coach. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. It is definitly going to be new and different but I am really excited about this school and the subjects I will be teaching but I know I have ALOT to learn...

Yesterday I also had my spa day it was absolutely wonderful. Rene got it for me as a surprise and got a bunch of my friends to chip in and write me nice notes and stuff. I got a massage, a body wrap, and a facial. It was four hours of complete relaxation and rest and I felt good afterwards. I also got a free makeup consolt. So here I am relaxed and in my makeup.

Today we went shopping all day. Rene and mom were my personal shoppers and I tried on what felt like hundred of outfits. But I definitly got a good start on teaching attire and it was all on sale. I got shoes, pants, shirts, skirts, and even a new purse. It's amazing....

Maybe I'll even get to rest some soon....

Tulsa

Hey so we are here having survived both the quincenera and Rene's mad cleaning spurt at his mom's (he clean sweeped his mom's house, only took three days of pretty constant work).
We got in late last night and slept in. I woke up and was chilling with the fam when I got a call from the placement director at LISD and I think more or less I have a job. It's a little confusing at this point but I think that's what's happening.
So for those of you out there who appreciate a little irony. I will be an 8th grade science teacher and an athletics coach. That's right little old me, with three periods of athletics, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girl's volleyball, basketball, and track. Let you know more as I learn more.

New Garden Plot

So I've been wanting to add a touch of color to my backyard and for my birthday spent some of the money buying a rose of sharon and two texas belles. Three really pretty plants that have beautiful flowers. I then waited a week before tackling the hot, sweaty, and hard labour of digging a new plot. Three days later I had hacked up hard red soil and put in alot of dirt and cow manure and planted some new flowers. I hope they survive. I am really enjoying them.

This is the new plot

I am on my way out the door to go to Snyder. Tommorow is Melinda's (the neice who lived with us for nearly two years) youngest sister's quincenera. Or big fifteenth party celebration. In Mexican culture it is the celebration of passing from childhood to womanhood much like a bat mitzvah. It should be fun although I forsee lots of work tommorow to get ready.
From there we leave for Tulsa on Sunday are there for a week and then are hoping to make it down to the Dallas area to see friends and family's babies...

It should be fun

Anniversaries

On July 15th, Rene and I celebrated our 4th anniversary. It was a very fun and special time. We rented a hotel room here in Lubbock, that had a king bed and a hot tub and was actually really nice. It is hard to believe we have been married this long and through the grace of God we will contine.

Here's a picture of us looking oh so svelte.

Surprise Party

Last weekend we had Rene's surprise 30th birthday. It was a little stressful and a little less than well planned but it happened and that's what's important. Frustratingly to me very few of Rene's friends could make but almost all of his family came and I know that meant quite a lot to him.
We had food, volleyball, and much talking

Rene's nephew, Salvador, made him this firetruck birthday cake. I thought it was pretty funny.

And last but not least me and some friends enjoying the sun.

I am glad that Rene had a good time but am not so sure about doing a big surprise thing anytime in the near future. It was alot of work and caused me all sorts of stress.

Birthdays

Well so Rene and I are now each a year older and it has been a crazy week with lots of parties and visits and telephone calls. It has been fun and I have even managed not to cry on my birthday the first time in I don't know how long.
Rene planned a party for me on Monday night with friends from church and cake and snacks it was very good and I had a lot of fun.
We also celebrated small for Rene on Wednesday and his mom and nephew Horacio were in town for lunch. Of course the huge festivites for Rene's birthday are on Saturday, this "surprise" thing seems to be getting bigger every time I turn around. But I am really glad that we are going to be celebrating him good.
Miss everybody and will be glad to see my family in Tulsa at the end of July.
