The new house

So as promised here finally is a picture of the new house. As you can see there is a sold sign and my "ghettomobile" (that's what my kids call the Hyundai) in the driveway. For now all I have is pictures of the outside because a need the realtor to get inside but hopefully that will be coming before too long.

In other news it is 2 and a half weeks in to teaching and true to form I am starting to get worn out. This week in particular has seemed very long. We have had an open house, a late late game night, I had to go to a stupid scope and sequence meeting on the game night day and my kids were bad for the sub so they got to meet the horrible Mrs. Aguirre today. I CANNOT believe it is only Wednesday.

Also Grandpa Potter and Ocean Springs are never far from my thoughts. For the first time in a long time a disesater seems really personal to me. Place I've walked, good memories of family and fun those places have been destroyed. I praise God daily that Grandpa was not in Ocean Springs when the hurricane hit. For those of you who don't know Ocean Springs is Biloxi, MS neighboring town. All those Casinos and bridges in Biloxi I 've been there that's Grandpa's backyard. So please pray for my grandpa as he still doesn't know how much of his house is left. The good news is we have a report that his house is one of three still standing on his street.

And on that note I will talk at you later.

The first week of school

So I have survived the first week back to school. The good news is I am still working at having a life and have not fully succumbed to the school day is over and I am a slug thing yet.
As far as things go it was a pretty good week. Highs include good conversations with some of my ninth graders, being really organized for try outs and hanging out with teacher friends. Lows are mainly that switching between science and coaching every other period definitly is tiring and leaves me feeling a little crazy and chaotic most of the day. I am hoping that slows itself down here shortly. I run everywhere it feels like.
On the house update. The inspection went through without a hitch and all paperwork is being filled out so hopefully everything will be finalized by mid september I'll keep you updated.

First Day of School

So I have survived my first full day back with the kids. And I have to say it really wasn't that bad. I mean it was very, very fast and a little chaotic and I am tired. Even so it ran pretty smooth. And it was a full first day with my first volleyball game at 5:00. Unfortunately my team lost bitterly. What I mean is they won the first game and then lost the second game 25 to 23 and lost the third 29 to 30 which if you know anything about volleyball is wrong because usually you have to win by two but the cap is 20. It was a very close game and the good news is the girls played well and are much better than my old team. Either that or I am better able to coach this year.
My days are going to be full because I switch between coaching and teaching every other period. I will probably lose more weight. But things feel familar and I don't feel behind or chaotic and paniced. I have some idea of what is happening for the next three weeks and that's pretty nice. So I may be exhasted by the end of the week but things are looking up.

The house

So biggest news of the week.... We have finally had a bid accepted on a house. Yes that's right barring some wierd problem or catastrophe we will be the proud owners of a spacious three bedroom two bath house by the middle of september. I am really excited. I like many many things about this house and can't wait to be able to move in and fiddle with this and that until it is just perfect for us. Yeah. Tell you more about it later.

A good day

So today was a good day. I don't why exactly, perhaps it was because I was productive. Or I had good chats with other teachers, but I am feeling a little more motivated today about school and coaching. Which I have to say is really good considering I had less than zero motivation the rest of this week.

Secondly in response to my rather brief update on housing, let me clarify. So my nephew Salvador is 27 and has good job and is very responsible. All the houses we are looking out have isolated masters most with other bedrooms able to be closed off from the rest of the house. We are still planning to be in Lubbock for no longer than two more years. Although I know much to many people's disappointment I am pretty sure it's going to be two years versus one. It just feels like we are being called to be here two years. Lastly we are putting the house in my name only and when we move Salvador will be buying the house from us. Which is win, win because we get to build up equity so that when we do move to the Dallas area we will be able to get a house all on our on because we will have equity and more savings from sharing bills and stuff. And if we need to, a new house could be just in Rene's name because we won't have tied up his credit on this house. So no worries people, it's all good.

We actually put in a bid on a house tonight. It is a really nice house, with a big if funky kitchen and a master bedroom and bath and closet that is sooooo big. It also has much to my delight a tub you could bathe in and a nice backyard. Yeah!!! I am trying not to get my hopes up, because it might not go through but I really hope it does. Tell you more as I know more.

Kisses,

Jen

It has begun

So technically I have been back to work now for two weeks. Really it's been more like a week and a half. In some ways I am glad because I feel like I am edging back up to a full schedule. Joy of joys I have already had my first weekend scrimmage. Which meant this last weekend I was doing volleyball stuff from 8:30 until 2:30. I don't really know why we had a scrimmage since we have not yet picked teams and had only been trying out for a week but oh well that's not my deal. Tommorow we start our first day of official in-service. Meanwhile the big news on the Aguirre home front is our search for a house. Our nephew Salvador has moved to Lubbock and we are looking for a house to share. Let me tell you looking for houses is about as much fun as picking ants out of cat food. It's tedious, things keep changing, and there is no perfect solution. We have put one bid in on a house and were rejected. And were about to put a bid in on one today but another bid came in yesterday at 3:00 and it was all over before we could blink. So now two houses later we are putting in another bid on a house tommorow. We'll see how it goes. I will try to keep you updated on the whole bidding on houses process. But really I think I am disillusioned as soon as we make a decision something changes and we have to start over. But I am praying that we will get the house that we need. So there.
