So I guess fall is officially here. And in the lovely flat dry land of lubbock this always brings two things. Mice and leaves. So we have been invaded by a family of mice. Now the first time this happened to me in Lubbock I felt some sympathy for the little boogers having had a pet mouse growing up in my house. But then they started pooping on everything and suddenly I lost all compassion. I made a deal you stay outside we can be friends but once you start crapping on my pots and pans and other cooking surfaces you must die. So glad to say we have erradicated the mice with a little bit of poison. Stupid mice.
Now you may ask why poison, don't you have a cat? Indeed I have a cat who thinks mice are his friend and catches them and plays them and then lets them go so he can play with them tommorow. I watched him corner a mouse and then lay down and scoot on his belly toward the mice and give it a little pat. Stupid cat.
All four of my large trees have decided to finally dump their leaves on our yard, cars, house, and porch. After throwing out six or seven trashcans of mulched leaves we are still pretty leaved-in. And the trees are still full of leaves. Stupid trees.
Thanksgiving is tommorow and I should already be in Snyder but my body has decided to betray me and I am sick with some sort of flu, cold, sinus infection thing. I have given in to the voices of reason not wanting to be sick all holiday or when I get back and am on my way to the doctor. Stupid body.
So all and all I will be glad to take a break from this mousey, leafy, sicky place and eat good food for a couple of days. Much love to all and happy thanksgiving.

This weekend Rene and I surprised the family by showing up at Laura's house on Saturday morning. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing, we only decided to do it for sure on Thursday. It was a free weekend and since everyone was already headed to Dallas I just thought why not.
It was really good to see everyone. I got to talk with Emily, play with the boys some, see Grandpa, chat with mom, grunt with Dad, and overall just be with my family. It was GREAT!!!!
Of course I came back with a cold but hey that's a small price to pay for the feeling of family. A week and a half to go until Thanksgiving which is very hard to believe. Time flies when you have no time . . . I guess.
So far my basketball teams are undefeated. But they have only played one game so that is not saying a whole lot. I don't find basketball season quite as fun as volleyball. But hey to each their own.
That's all for now.

So yesterday was pretty uneventful. Rene and I worked at our church's annual event called Trunk or Treat. People volunteer their trunks and you make a little circle and all the kids come around and get candy. We dressed up and there were decorated cars and music and some good food.
Salvador stayed home and passed out candy. Rene's picture didn't take but here's the rest of us.
