Four days left and only the plants have died

Well I am about to finish my second year of teaching. Have to say it was much easier than the first but still pretty exhasting. I closed the year with my kids doing an experiment on growing stuff in different kinds of soil. Everything was running pretty smoothly. My kids managed to kill quite a few of their sprouts but when I left on Friday most of them had at least one living thing. And then.....
Then my science department head shut all the doors and closed all the vents to the greenhouse and I was a couple of hours late to water and it was a 100 degrees outside and all the plants are dead. Crispy dead.
Oh well. I'm sure that's a metaphor for something.
Rene has been gone for a whole week and I have gotten stuff done but miss him a lot and am looking forward to picking him up on Friday. When I will see all the craziness that is my family. YEAH!!!!!!

Until then may you not be like poor sprouts in a greenhouse baking to death.

Parents visit

Well it's the last day of the parents visit here in Lubbock. It has been really good to have them hear and to let them see some of my crazy life.
They have seen my church, my school, my in-laws, my mall, my lowes, a nice restaurant, where Sal works, and hopefully a windmill museum by the end of today.
Dad and Grandpa have fallen in love with my patio and spend much time on the patio talking and drinking coffee. They have also been watching my cat battle a blue jay which Dad finds particularly amusing.
Mom and I have been on the move on a constant basis, going here and there and shopping and doing other stuff. Mom even helped me do some research on lawn mowers and grad schools.
We also have managed to watch half of Rene's family come and go. We had 11 adults and 2 children here last night. It feels a little bit like the calm after the storm.
I will be sad to see them go. But luckily only two more weeks until I get to see everybody.

I'm sore

Volleyball has started again and I've been working out and the result is I'm sore. Different parts of my body ache. It's not a lot of fun. I cannot believe that there are only three weeks and two days of school left.
However because there are only three weeks and two days of school left I find the days are dragging along at a snails pace. Fun times. I also feel just about as motivated as my students do. Which I might add is a bad thing. Hopefully we will all make it to the end of the school year.
Something happens to students at the end of the school year they go a lot bit wonky and start acting like little turds. It's fun, makes me glad I get to deal with all their adolescent hormones.
Caught some kids making out yesterday, and I mean all but laying down on the ground and doing the deed. That was fun....
Went and saw George Lopez, the comedian, perform on Sunday. He was really funny and only occasionally crude. It was good to laugh. Salvador my nephew bought us the tickets. It was nice of him. Well that's all for now.
